Garden M - dOROTHY
My garden has grown organically for decades. Organic does not equal manky or difficult! A tiny front garden leads to a 60metre long back garden, full of trees, shrubs, flowers, fruits and vegetables .Years of organised compost making, anything compostable or shreddable goes in the bins, have transformed my Letchworth heavy clay soil into fertile loam (Not everywhere—yet.)
I am a plant enthusiast and grow quantities of annual flowers and vegetables from seed. Trying out unusual varieties of seeds or heritage varieties, is interesting and sometimes gratifying; but at times I find out why a variety has become heritage.
For me, planting combinations of shapes and colours into the ground becomes like painting pictures with plants, pictures that will grow and mature over months.
I hope birds, insects, butterflies, hedgehogs and visitors are happy in this space.
